The National Coalition of Organized Women (NCOW) estimates that the 2009/2010 N1N1 flu vaccine has caused up to 3,578 miscarriages and stillbirths.  This information was released after analyzing statistics from two different reporting sources.

In a speech earlier this month, NCOW Director, Eileen Dannemann, stated, “We strongly recommend that the CDC withdraws their continued recommendation to pregnant women, instead, strictly adhering to the FDA/manufacturers warning on the insert packages that the flu shot not be given to pregnant women unless clearly needed.”  She also suggested, “that the CDC advise all Ob/Gyns, vaccine providers and the public this year of last season’s reports on H1N1 vaccine-related fetal deaths.”

If you are pregnant or think you might be pregnant, please research and consider the potential side effects of the flu shot for yourself and your baby.

The Best-And Least Expensive-Weight Loss Program

Over the years, there have been many types of dieting trends, from pills to meal-replacement shakes.  These companies make huge profits from people looking for a quick-fix and instant weight loss.  And, many of their customers have lost weight while on these types of programs; at least until they go off the program and gain it all (and more) back.

There is a better alternative.  And it’s much less expensive.  It’s called ‘eat more salad and get outside!’

The only way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you consume.  So ideally, it takes eating less calories and burning more than you do now.

Instead of paying for expensive pills or powders, start by replacing one meal each day with fresh fruits and vegetables (raw if possible).  Then, work on eating less fried food and less foods made up of empty carbs (white bread, white rice, chips, candy, etc.).

To burn more calories, get outside!  Buy a bicycle and go for a ride or just get out and take a walk.  Go at your pace and work up to a faster pace or longer distances.  Invite your spouse, friend or kids to go with you and get in some quality time; not to mention the fresh air!

You don’t have to change all of your eating and exercise habits over night.  Making small healthier choices every day really ads up!  Plus, over time this becomes a lifestyle change.  Not only do you loose weight, your body becomes healthier and you get more out of life.

Don’t Leave Your Child’s Spinal Health to the Gym Teacher

According to the National Scoliosis Foundation, there are approximately 6 million people in the United States affected by scoliosis.  Scoliosis refers to an abnormal curve in the spine and usually appears in children between 10 and 15 years old.  It is recommended that children are checked for scoliosis every 6 months.  Depending on the severity of the curve in the spine, a person with scoliosis may only need minor treatment.  Others may need bracing or even surgery.

Many schools are screening children for scoliosis.  These screenings are usually performed by gym teachers, or other school staff.  Even with these screenings, it is important to have your child checked by a professional with extensive training and knowledge of the spine.

Chiropractic Wellness offers free scoliosis screenings for children 12 and under.  Please don’t leave your child’s spinal health to their gym teacher.  Call to schedule a thorough screening by Dr. George at 678-777-3116.

What a Dallas, GA Mom Decides On The Flu Shot

From a mom in Dallas, GA:

Several years before I met and became a patient of Dr. George Tomes, I was considering getting flu shots for myself and my children.  I started looking into the ingredients, the side effects and the potential benefits of the flu shot.

First, I found that the shot consits of ingrediants like, mercury, formaldahyde and aluminum.  And, the amounts of these ingrediants would be considered poisioning by the Center for Disease Control for some people.  Then, I found out that there is a chance that the shot can cause all kinds of health problems and can be fatal.  Even if it might only be harmful to one in “some number” of people, I’m not taking that chance on myself or my kids.  Plus, most people say that when they get a flu shot, they have flu-like symptoms for a few days, up to several weeks or even months.  So, if I don’t get the flu shot, I might not get the flu.  But if I do get a flu shot, I’ll will get the flu.  I also learned that the flu shot is different every year.  They use the top three most common strains of the flu from the previous year.  (This year they’re injecting the H1N1 virus into people getting the flu shot!)

The only benefit I could see of getting the shot is that MAYBE you won’t get the flu and if you do, MAYBE it won’t be as bad as it would have been if you didn’t get the shot.  Sorry.  Not enough for me.  I decided that the “benefit” definitely didn’t outweigh the risks!  ~ Angela Day
